Windows 8.1 merupakan versi penyempurnaan dari Windows 8 dan Windows RT yang sebelumnya sempat di anggap sebagai operating system gagal. Pada Operating System Windows 8.1 selain telah disertakan start menu, juga memiliki segudang fitur tambahan dan hal-hal baru seperti layar home yang mulai di tingkatkan, integritas dengan SkyDrive, menggunakan Internet Explorer 11, dan dukungan untuk teknologi yang sedang berkembang seperti menampilkan resolusi tinggi, pencetakan 3D, Wi-Fi Direct, dan streaming dengan Miracast.
